  Rock Radio Stations

Rachel Barton Pine frequently appears on rock radio stations in conjunction with her performances. As a life-long fan of rock music, especially the heavy metal genres, she is uniquely able to introduce classical music to her fellow rock fans.

After grabbing listeners' attention with an on-air performance of music by a band such as Metallica, Ms. Pine will follow up with a hard-rocking virtuoso piece by Paganini or Ernst. She can also provide radio stations with a copy of her crossover album, "Stringendo: Storming the Citadel." This recording features her own arrangements of songs by AC/DC, U2, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth, Nirvana, and Rush, as well as her famous version of The Star-Spangled Banner.

Ms. Pine shares stories about performing with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Jimmy Page and opening for Slash (Guns N' Roses) and Sammy Hagar at the House of Blues. She also talks about hanging out with famous rock artists and learning about their favorite classical music. For example, Uli Jon Roth (the Scorpions) told her that some of his licks come from the Brahms Violin Concerto, and Marty Friedman (Megadeth) told her that he loves the Ysaye Violin Sonatas. Morning shows and afternoon drive are usually the best times to reach listeners. Ticket giveaways and/or special discounts can be very effective ways of encouraging these rock fans to attend Ms. Pine's concerts.

Sweet Home Chicago

FROM ROCK FANS
Thank your for introducing me to the classical side of music - it's now a preset on my radio in the truck.
~Tom

I just wanted to thank you for turning me on to classical music. I'm 36 years old and have been a lifelong fan of heavy metal. Metallica and Slayer are a couple of my favorites... I've always found classical music to be boring, but that's because I never gave it a chance and really listened to it. Then one day I heard you on the radio when you played some AC/DC and Zeppelin on the violin along with a classical piece and I was blown away… I now have CDs by Mozart, Bartok, Debussy and others alongside CDs by Motorhead, Megadeth and Sepultura. Thank you for broadening my horizons.
~Peter

I heard you play on XL102 in Richmond, Va. I thought your playing was great. I never knew violins could be so cool. Thank you for your time and keep rocking.
~Theresa

I was at your show tonight and enjoyed it immensely! This was the first "classical" show I have been to, and since I knew the names, Vivaldi and Barton, I figured what the hell ...although I'm normally seen at a Dave Matthews Band concert! I just wanted to let you know, not that you need it, that you are doing a wonderful job and you really opened my eyes tonight. I am hoping to see you in another performance soon!
~Michael
