  University Lectures

Rachel Barton Pine is always happy to give lectures at college and universities, if her schedule allows. These presentations can be for all music students, violin students, all string students, music history students, etc. She can also speak to non-music students in classes such as American History, Women's Studies, African-American Studies, or Non-Profit Arts Management. She is open to suggestions from professors about which topic(s) would best meet the needs of their students.

Some recent lectures include:

  • "Historically Informed Interpretation of Baroque Repertoire" at Fort Lewis College in Colorado
  • "Effective Practice Habits" at Northern Illinois University
  • "The String Student's Library of Black Composers: A Curricular Project" at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee
  • "The History and Repertoire of the Viola d'Amore" at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in Ohio
  • "Maud Powell and the Development of Violin Performance in America during the Victorian Era" at Ripon College in Wisconsin
  • "The Development of the Violin from its Medieval Ancestors to the Present Time" at the University of California at Los Angeles
